About Mongolia

Mongolia is one of the least densely populated countries on earth, and most visits start in Ulaanbaatar, where nearly half the population lives. The capital is the place to hear throat singing, see the treasures of the Mongol Empire and visit temples that survived the 20th century.

Beyond the city, the steppe opens up quickly. The giant Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue at Tsonjin Boldog is an easy half-day trip, and Terelj National Park, the Gobi Desert and Kharkhorin are where longer journeys go.
